The 24th Annual Hartford Gospel Music “Hills of Fame” Songfest is scheduled for Sunday evening, May 11, on Mothers’ Day, beginning at 6 pm at Faith Chapel at 306 Arkansas 45 in Hartford, Arkansas.
Come enjoy an evening of inspirational gospel music in commemoration of the Hartford Music Co. once owned and operated in Hartford, Arkansas. The Hartford Music Co. published such well-known songs as “I’ll Fly Away,” written by Albert E. Brumley; “Victory in Jesus,” written by E.M. Bartlett; and “Just a Rose Will Do,” written by J.A. McClung. All three of these famous writers have been posthumously inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame, and all were owners of the Hartford Music Company.
This year’s program is featuring special entertainers and selected local talent and promises to be a musical evening that you won’t want to miss. Such notables as The Crowes singing Southern Gospel, Just Us singing Gospel Bluegrass, and several quartets singing Traditional Gospel, as well as numerous solos, duets, and trios will be performing.
Many readers attended a Hartford Music Institute Singing School “back in the day” and some even sang with one of several Hartford Quartets. If you are one who participated, we request your attendance at the upcoming Songfest on Mothers’ Day and be recognized as having been a part of the musical heritage of Hartford which has brought much joy to the world with songs that were written and/or published at the Hartford Music Co.
You will enjoy the breathtakingly beautiful drive just 20 miles east of Poteau on Hwy 83 or 30 miles south of Fort Smith on Hwy 96. Bring your mother and your family and come on out to hear and participate in some good old gospel singing this Mothers’ Day.
