Early Deadline

The Greenwood Democrat will be closed on Monday, May 27 in observance of Memorial Day. The deadline for the May 29 issue will be Thursday, May 23 at 4:30 p.m.

Class of 2013 Graduation

The Greenwood High School Class of 2013 will enjoy a graduating ceremony this Friday night at 7:30. The event will take place at 7:30 p.m. on the football field. In the case of rain, the ceremony will be moved to the H.B. Stewart Arena. Dr. Kay Johnson-Headley will be the guest speaker.

Chamber Golf Tournament

The Greenwood Chamber of Commerce Annual 3-Person Scramble Golf Tournament will be held on Saturday, June 1st at the Vache Grasse Golf Course. Prize money paid to 1st and 2nd place. Snacks, drinks and lunch will be provided.

Bancorp Retirement Reception

A reception will be held at BancorpSouth, Greenwood to honor Lynn Delp & Karen Brown on Friday, May 31st from 1:00-5:00 p.m. Lynn Delp has been with Bancorp for 17 years and Karen Brown for 12 years. “Both will be greatly missed and we wish them the best. Please stop by and enjoy cake and punch with these special ladies.”

Celebration for emergency medical personnel

Today, May 22, Sebastian County will honor our County’s Paramedics, EMTs, and First Responders and their families from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Bell Park Pavilion in Greenwood. Sebastian County Judge David Hudson issued a proclamation honoring these emergency medical personnel for their hard work and dedication to the citizens of Sebastian County.

SSCRTA Meeting planned for June 3

The South Sebastian County Retired Teachers will meet Monday June 3 at 2 p.m. in the Greenwood Farmers Bank Community Room. This will be a planning meeting for next year. Pizza will be served. All public school retirees are encouraged to attend and give their input. Be sure to bring your volunteer hours.
