ASBTDC offers social media training for businesses Oct. 10 in Greenwood

Area business owners wanting to learn about Facebook and social media are invited to participate in free hands-on training Oct. 10 at the Greenwood Chamber of Commerce.

The Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center is offering the seminars at no charge, thanks to special funding from the U.S. Small Business Administration.

From 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., “Introduction to Social Media Marketing” will outline ways small businesses can use social media sites to promote their businesses and grow their online presence. The workshop will explain how these sites fit into an overall online strategy and highlight best practices for managing social media. The session is for beginners who are unfamiliar with social media marketing and sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and LinkedIn.

In the afternoon from 1-4, “Facebook Business Pages” will show how small businesses can use Facebook to get the word out about their products and services. Participants will get step-by-step guidance on how to develop a Facebook page for their business, and the seminar will explain why thousands of businesses of all sizes are already using this free social media site. While attendees should have basic computer skills, the workshop is designed for novices.

The workshops will utilize iPads.

Space is limited, and advance registration is required to participate. To reserve your seat for either or both of the workshops, please call the Arkansas Tech University ASBTDC office at (479) 356-2067 or email Ronda Hawkins at rhawkins2@atu.edu.

Reasonable accommodations for persons with disabilities will be made if requested in advance. Contact Hawkins at (479) 356-2067 or 106 West O St., Russellville, AR 72801.
