The Greenwood Public School District offers a DHS licensed, childcare designed for school-age children, Kindergarten through sixth grade.
BASS, Before and After School Success, extends “before school” and “after school” care when school is in session and all day care when school is not in session and through the summer for full days.
Open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., BASS offers a variety of interactive activities in arts and crafts, block construction, music, drama, literacy, math/reasoning, science/nature, and recreation.
“Our goal is to give each school-age child, Kindergarten through sixth grade, the opportunity to achieve a higher social and academic learning in a safe environment,” states Misty Kelley, BASS Director.
The BASS staff is dedicated, experienced, trained, and certified teachers that lead and teach school-age children team-building skills, self-discipline, good nutritional eating habits, and positive attitudes toward homework and learning.
In addition, each staff member is CPR/First Aid certified and attends at least 20 hours of training per year.
BASS serves a nutritious breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack to each child enrolled in the program through the USDA Special Nutrition Programs Child and Adult Care Food Program. The Arkansas Department of Human Services, Arkansas State University Childhood Services, and Arkansas Afterschool Alliance acknowledges BASS as one of the best school-age programs in the state.
BASS registration forms will be available at any of the Kindergarten through sixth grade orientations at Westwood Elementary School, East Pointe Elementary School, and East Hills Middle School.
You may also register Monday through Friday 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Westwood Primary Tornado Shelter (the B.A.S.S. facility).
