Amy Brashear has been awarded an Academic Excellence Scholarship for the fall semester at Arkansas Tech University-Ozark Campus.
Brashear, a graduate of Atkins High School, is working toward an Associate of Applied Science in Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA). She is the daughter of David and Barbara Brashear of Greenwood.
She said the scholarship, which totals $500, will help her as a single mother pay for school.
Brashear has a 4.0 grade-point-average and this spring was named to the Chancellor’s List – reserved for students with a perfect GPA.
After graduating, she plans to become OTA certified and eventually become a rehabilitation manager. Also, she would like to pursue further education to become an occupational therapist.
In her free time, Brashear volunteers at church, the Oak Manor Nursing Home and Area Agency On Aging. She is a member of the Student Occupational Therapy Association and Kiwanis.
Brashear said she chose to enroll at Arkansas Tech-Ozark because of “good past experience with the university, and Arkansas Tech offers the program I want for my career.”
