The city of Clarksville’s Aquatic Center opened its gates on Wednesday, July 3rd. The Aquatic Center features 2 water slides, a lazy river, a leisure pool with climbing wall, basketball and a zero entry water play area with sprays, splash pad and water playground. A concession stand and relaxing cabanas are also available.
In November of 2011 the voters of Clarksville approved a 1 cent sales tax to finance the $10 million aquatic center along with a new police station and an additional fire station. The bonds are expected to be paid off over a period of 15 years. Construction on the outdoor portion of the center began October of 2012. The indoor component will include an 8-lane competitive swim pool, a diving well, and a therapy pool and is scheduled for completion in October later this year.
The aquatic center is located at 1611 Oakland St; ½ mile north of Interstate 4o off of exit 57. Hours of operation are daily from 12:00pm to 6:00pm, Monday and Tuesday nights are “family” nights from 6:30 to 8:30, and all other evenings are available for large group reservations. Admission is $6.00 per individual and only $4.00 for those over the age of 55 or under the age of 3.
