Greenwood City Clerk/Treasurer, Sharla Derry, was recently selected to receive a $400 scholarship to attend the 2013 Municipal Clerks Institute Certification Program. The weeklong, 40 hour class is held in Fayetteville, Ark. in September and is administered by ACCRTA (Arkansas City Clerks Recorders and Treasurers Association) and the University of Arkansas. This is Mrs. Derry’s second consecutive year to both attend and receive the scholarship, in her efforts to obtain certification to become an Arkansas Certified Municipal Clerk. In addition to other requirements, 120 hours of training is required to obtain the ACMC status and normally takes three years to complete.
Derry exlained, “I would like to publicly thank the ACCRTA Scholarship Committee for selecting me for this beneficial assistance on the City’s behalf. This scholarship represents a savings to the City of Greenwood that can now make possible my attendance at additional ACCRTA workshops within the year if I am able. I feel very fortunate to have received this assistance for a second year and I am honored. I will continue to strive for the educational opportunities made available to me by the ACCRTA and give my best effort in these endeavors that the people of Greenwood elected me for.”
