East Pointe Elementary held their annual Spelling Bee on Wednesday, December 11, 2013. Each 4th and 5th grade class homeroom held a spelling bee, and the winners competed in the school spelling bee. This year’s spelling bee lasted 41 rounds with 23 rounds between the last two contestants. Paige Driscoll, daughter of Nick & Kristy Driscoll, was the champion and Madeline Ciesla, daughter of David & Jamie Ciesla, was runner-up/alternate.

Fourth grade class winners were:

  • Kennedy Holland, Mrs. Sherlett Myers’ class
  • Campbell Osier, Mrs. Eneldia Thames’ class
  • Fletcher Gill, Mrs. Jackie Franks’ class
  • Ashton Brownfield, Mr. Richard Parker’s class
  • Macey Cutsinger, Mrs. Mary Beth Whipkey’s class
  • Reece McDaniel, Mrs. Holli Karnes’ class

Fifth grade class winners were:

  • Shea Goodwin, Mrs. Christy Linam’s class
  • Madeline Ciesla, Miss Amber Quillman’s class
  • Logan Reaves, Mrs. Lynda McCain’s class
  • Paige Driscoll, Mrs. Jennifer Coonce’s class

Elliott Brown presented each classroom winner with a two dollar bill and presented the championship and alternate trophies.

East Pointe Elementary appreciates all its Spelling Bee community partners who helped with entry fee, trophies, pronouncing and judging: Farmers Bank, South Sebastian County Library, Osborn Insurance Agency and BancorpSouth.
