End of Summer Bash Benefiting the Park Partners of Fort Smith

Sweet Bay Coffee’s End of Summer Bash Benefiting the Park Partners of Fort Smith will be an all day event full of live music, free food, bounce arounds for the kids, art exhibits, face painting, arts and crafts, and much more! The event will be held at Sweet Bay Coffee Parkside, 3400 Rogers Ave., and also at Creekmore Park, Rogers and South 31st St., both in Fort Smith. The road between the two venues will be blocked off to ensure safety. The goal of this event is to raise money and awareness for the Park Partners of Fort Smith. Park Partners is a non-profit corporation devoted to investing in our future through the development of the City of Fort Smith’s Parks and Recreation Department facilities.

The idea for this benefit stemmed from an underlying need to bring more attention to our Fort Smith area parks. Our children’s physical and mental development is important to us. How can we help in the development of their minds and bodies? Playgrounds offer an opportunity to do this. The creative play in which children engage at playgrounds has been studied and found to enhance mental development. Children need opportunities for creative play where they make up the game, the rules, and how it is carried out. Our children often go from one structured program to another or play in structured environments that dictate how games are played and do not allow for creativity or limited creativity. Exercise is another important benefit that a playground can bring to a child.

The live music will begin at 11 am at both Sweet Bay Coffee and Creekmore Park, and will continue until 9 pm at Sweet Bay. The Fort Smith Artists Association will be out at Sweet Bay Coffee from 1 to 4 pm showcasing visual art, sculpture, performance, short film, fashion and more! Free hot dogs and chips will be available starting at 11 am until it is gone, and the bounce arounds, arts and crafts, and face painting will be available most of the day. Local vendors and organizations will also be present. The pool at Creekmore Park will be open, and the train will be running all day.

This is a family friendly event and admission is FREE. Donations will be accepted and will be designated to Creekmore Park by the Park Partners of Fort Smith. The Park Partners of Fort Smith is an IRS recognized 501( c )3 tax exempt not for profit charity.
