The 2nd grade students at East Pointe Elementary have been studying the Common Core Literacy Unit “Hand-Me Down Tales from Around the World.” In the unit, the students listened to multiple versions of “Stone Soup.” The students were then asked to bring in a variety of vegetable cans. Each class made their own “Stone Soup.” Even though this European folktale originates from the 1700’s, and has been rewritten over the centuries, students still enjoy and learn the valuable lesson of giving and sharing today. The additional vegetable cans will be given to the Greenwood School District’s Parent Center Food Bank.
