Horton wins Garden Clubs Poetry Contest

Shiloh Horton has won the National Federation of Garden Clubs Poetry Contest for the 8th grade. Her poem, titled “Protecting and Conserving Our Natural Resources” will be published in a booklet along with the other grade level winners and the overall winner. These booklets will be sent to garden clubs across the U.S. She also received ribbons and cash awards. The Greenwood Garden Club will sponsor a new poetry contest beginning in August for Kindergarten through 9th grade. The poem is to be titled “Good Stewards of Our Earth.” The poems can be in any form. For more information, contact Youth Chairman Shirley Walters.
