Mansfield to participate in Model United Nations competition

On Friday November 15, 2013 Mr. Jim Cunningham and Mr. Means Wilkinson from Farmer’s Bank presented a check in the amount of $595.00 to Mansfield High School Spanish teacher and Model United Nations sponsor Becky Yates. The money will be used by the MHS Model United Nations competitors for registration fees, country fees and hotel expenses at the 2013 Model United Nations Competition which will be held on the campus of the University of Central Arkansas on November 22 and 23. MHS will represent the countries of France and Somalia against students from across the states of Arkansas, Tennessee, Oklahoma and Missouri. Co-sponsoring the group this year is Mrs. Michelle Johnson, MHS Social Studies teacher.

Seth Mays will represent France as Head Delegate in the Model International Court of Justice, Hannah Johnson will represent France on the Social and Humanitarian Committee, Elle Johnson will represent France on the Special Political Committee and Elizabeth Cumbie will represent France on the Security Council. Hagen Treadway will represent Somalia on the Model International Court of Justice, Rance Mickle will represent Somalia on the Social and Humanitarian Committee and Kayla Elmore will represent Somalia on the Legal Committee.
