Shellshocked Outdoors goes Hollywood

The local non-profit, ShellShocked Outdoors is going Hollywood.

Greenwood’s own outdoor organization that mentors to local youth has been discovered by NBC Universal. The movie maker is putting a documentary together to air on the E! Channel on July 10 about the patriarch of the Robertson Family and the hit reality show, Duck Dynasty.

That would be Mr. Phil Robertson. Prior to the days of Duck Dynasty, Jim Newcomb, President of ShellShocked Outdoors and host of the “Spirit of the Outdoors” radio show traveled to several Outdoor Trade Shows with the Robertson’s. The group filmed all of Phil Robertson’s speeches that they could. The filming of these speeches turned out to be high quality filming.

From the start, ShellShocked Outdoors had only used professional filming gear. ShellShocked Outdoors put these videos on YouTube. To date, more than three million people have viewed their videos, including NBC Universal.

They contacted ShellShocked Outdoors to verify that they would be allowed to use the videos in the documentary of Phil Robertson. ShellShocked responded that the videos were for all to view and they had their permission. NBC Universal has also decided to use excerpts from several interviews Newcomb has conducted with Phil Robertson over the past few years as parts of the documentary of his life.

“This is a humbling accomplishment for ShellShocked Outdoors,” Newcomb stated. “We started out as a local organization and with the help of our radio show were able to go regional, then nationwide.”

Now their work will be broadcast over the United States, Canada, Europe, Asia and Australia. This has been a huge accomplishment for a small group with the vision and goal of introducing children to God’s Great Outdoors.
