Jack, Olivia and Troy Gaston with Walters Gaston Law Firm present Race Director Randy Davis a check for $1000 for their sponsorship for this year’s Yule Run 5K taking place December 14th.
The Walters and Gaston sponsorship will go toward the chip timing of this year’s race.
Chip timing is a method in which the race is timed electronically, insuring a more accurate time for the runner.
“Our race in Greenwood has become a very popular race” Race Director Randy Davis states. The 4th of July race continues to grow yearly, I attribute a lot of that to the chip timing. It is a faster, more accurate way of timing the runners.”
This year’s race will take place on December 14th at 9 a.m. with the check-in beginning at 8 a.m. at the Means Wilkinson Community Room Center at Farmers Bank. Pre-registration is $20, on or before December 10, $30 thereafter. Long sleeve t-shirts will be given to the first 150 registrants.
Cash prizes will be given to the race participant with the most Christmas themed attire. “The race is a challenging race” Davis says, “people either really like or hate the course because of the hills, now, we would like add a little something to it to make it a unique, enjoyable, fun run.” I’d like to see every runner wearing some kind of Christmas costume, it would be awesome to see 200 Santa’s, elves or reindeer running the streets of Greenwood on December the 14th.
