Westwood students participate in Western Arkansas Math Contest

A team of 4th and 5th grade students from Westwood participated in the recent Western Arkansas Math Contest sponsored by Sumdog and placed 1st in the contest. Students competed against 8 other schools in the area: Pike, Kraus Middle School, Bonneville Elementary, Cook Elementary, East Pointe, Hackett Elementary, St. Boniface Catholic School and Oark Enrichment. A total of 790 students from 9 schools participated in the contest. Westwood students that placed in the top 10 were: Hayden Weaver, Jase Strozier, Tatum Sadler, Jack Williams, Mackenzie Adams, Madelyn Burnette, Bryce Barentine, Tatum Johnson, Taylor Morehead and Cam Carter. Each student was allowed to answer 1000 questions. Hayden Weaver placed 1st in the contest by answering 998 out of 1000 correctly at a speed of 1.6 seconds. Second place was held by Jase Strozier also answering 998 out of 1000 correctly at a speed of 2.2 seconds. Congratulations to all students that took part in this contest.
