MARY’S MEANDERINGS: Jan. 1 — Quips, Quotes and Quiddity

It was the year 1994.

On the occasion of her 100th birthday, a lady was interviewed by a TV reporter. She answered all the questions put to her until the reporter asked her to what she attributed the fact that she had reached such a milestone. There was a rather long pause, and then she replied…

“I guess the main reason I got to be 100 years old is that I was born in 1894.”

Here’s a quote I’d never heard before from a pastor on TV, named Rick Warren. He said, “It’s not a sin to be rich…it’s a sin to die rich.”

Now, I ask, “Do you know someone who is slower than molasses?”

Have you ever wondered, “How tight is Dick’s hat band?”

“How sweet is a peach…how fat is a leach?”

We all know that “years wrinkle the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul.”

The road to success is always under construction.

Stay strong as the wind…don’t let a breeze overtake you!

Keep your face toward the sunshine and the shadows will fall behind you.

In your heart is a love of wonder. Refuse to desert your ideals.

The person who never makes mistakes must get tired of doing nothing.

If you’ve found your hidden talent…take a break.

Money is like knowledge. It’s not what you know, but knowing how to keep it.

Tomorrows are just days waiting to happen.

Life is hard by the yard, but by the inch, it’s a cinch.

A person who cares is a person who prepares.

He who cuts his own wood, warms himself twice.

The greatest burden to bear is a chip on your shoulder.

Prayer can alter the path of a tornado.

“How tall is a pine and how slim is a vine?”

“How ugly is an old shoe?”

Are you a little puzzled when you think…”How yellow is an egg or how crooked is a dog’s hind leg?”

Do you know the feeling of: Being snug as a bug in a rug?

Also…how plain is the nose on your face?

And here’s just one more…Where do we go when we go haywire? Sometime…doing something “on the spur of the moment” can be fun and rewarding, don’t you think? I do, so…A HAPPY & HEALTHY NEW YEAR EVERYONE and remember…Today will soon be a memory, so don’t let it come to an end…without a smile or a song…or just a word with a friend.
