I can’t remember what we were talking about, but one day my dear friend, published poet and writer, Estella, said to me:
“Every problem has 3 blessinq wrapped up in it.”
I liked that saying. I told her: “One of these days I’m going to use that in my writing.”
I recently composed and submitted a poem in a contest to Eber and Wein Publishing Company, in New Freedom, Pa. It was accepted for publication.
Although Estella preferred poetry that rhymed, I think she would have approved.
Thoughts I’ll Take To My Grave…
Every problem has a blessing wrapped up in it,
and with the common sense promised me
I am allowed to throw my energy
Into life works and day dreams
calm and peaceful
never living in an atmosphere of
worry or hopeless struggle.
Refusing to be a cynic, morally near-sighted and
bragging about it,
but searching every element of happiness
in the world.
Finding the constant unchangeable element
of love … of humanity in some form
that represents a peaceful attunement
If this were not so,
I could not attain my own happiness any more
than I could jump
on the far end of my shadow
