Good day to the great citizens of our fair city. What a wonderful summer it turned out to be. Yet, it is time for the kiddos to go back to school and be immersed in all the knowledge the teachers have for them to learn. That also means Greenwood Football is right around the corner, go Dogs go!
We have chosen a new Code Enforcement/Animal Control Officer out of 25 people that submitted applications for the job. I want to thank the selection committee for making well thought out choices. I received more calls about this issue than any other issue in the city. The people made it very clear to me what they wanted their tax money spent on. I was pleased this issue passed at the last council meeting. The bottom line is we have a Code Enforcement Officer ready to go to work.
The Annual Teachers Banquet was a lot of fun this year. It is heartwarming to see all of the support our educators have in this city. I want to thank all of the teachers and staff who came up to me and were concerned that I had fully recovered from my illness last year. Like I told them, I’m back in the saddle again! It just goes to show you the caring hearts of those who teach and watch over our youth that we have in our school system. We are very lucky to live in such a caring and thoughtful town.
I am looking forward to the results of our Annual City Audit. We have assembled the most honest and ethical staff we could put together. I am anxious to see the results of our hard work.
Well, I am thinking of a friendly wager with the mayor of Alma regarding our football game with them this year. If Alma loses the football game against Greenwood, the Alma mayor pushes me down the football field in a wheelbarrow. If Greenwood loses, I will push the Alma mayor down the football field in a wheelbarrow. I am sure Yeager’s has a wheelbarrow we could borrow. Pray that God gives Coach Jones a lot of wisdom this year!
