<p>Ann Akins and Kay Voss of Alpha Delta Chapter of ESA, sponsors of the Airing of the Quilts, present a check to South Sebastian County Historical Society president Meryl Efurd at the May 16 meeting. Proceeds from the quilt show assist the Society in maintaining their historic properties and preserving local history. ESA is a philanthropic organization and has been in existence in Greenwood for over fifty years.</p>

<p>Greenwood Mayor Doug Kinslow and Kristin Faulkenberry get their hands dirty on Earth Day to plant a tree behind City Hall. Several city employees came together to plant eight trees in all. City Employees planted; two Fugi Apple trees, one Red Delicious, one Golden Delicious, one Alberta Peach, one Georgia Peach and two Plum Trees.</p>

<p>This week we feature the above photo of the mine crew of old Reeves Coal Co., mine at Hackett. The photo was made about 1940 when a large number of Sebastian County mines were working at capacity and mining was the largest industry in Western Arkansas. A number of Greenwood men are in the picture including Willard Stafford, Earl Pryor, Ray Hile and Tony Stermetz.</p>
