6A State: Greenwood Coasts Past Fair, 75-27

Greenwood 75, Little Rock Fair 27

GIRLS — The Lady Bulldogs won their 20th game of the season in a first-round snoozer at Jonesboro in the 6A State Tournament.

Greenwood scored 53 points in the first half and coasted to a 75-27 win against Little Rock Fair.

The Lady Bulldogs rolled to a 37-4 lead in the first quarter and increased it to 53-11 at the half against Fair (1-21). Greenwood added a 17-13 advantage in the third quarter and applied the Arkansas Activities Association’s mercy rule.

Megan Hartness scored 16 points for Greenwood with Maddie Goodner adding 15. The girls have to wait until Saturday afternoon to find out who their opponent will be for their game on Monday.

Benton 75, Greenwood 59

BOYS — Benton, the top seed from the 6A-South, scored 20 points in the first quarter and never looked back.

Benton (22-6) led 20-11 after a quarter and 43-23 at the half. The Panthers added a 15-11 edge in the third quarter.

Greenwood (6-19) was led by Evan Lensing with 17 points. Ryan Padilla added 10 points. This loss sends the boys home, ending their season.
