Coach Jones named Outstanding Alumnus at Harding University

Rick Jones of Greenwood was recognized by Harding University as Outstanding Alumnus for the College of Education at the University’s annual Black and Gold Banquet October 25.

Jones, a 1977 University Alumnus, is the football coach for the Greenwood Bulldogs. He has led his team to six state championships. Along with championships, he’s won the hearts of his players, and as a result, he was named AAA Football Coach of the Year in 2011 and 2012. Additionally, he was named 2012 National Federation of High Schools Football Coach of the Year and Arkansas Democrat Gazette 2012-13 Coach of the Year. Oklahoma High School Coaches Hall of Fame named him as a 2013 inductee as well. Prior to his arrival at Greenwood, he was head coach at Edmond (Okla.) High School, Tulsa (Okla.) Union High School, and Broken Arrow (Okla.) High School.

Harding is the largest private university in Arkansas with 6,295 students. The University also maintains campuses in Australia, Chile, England, France, Greece, Italy and Zambia.
