Greenwood training on cutting edge

Rick Jones has been using a summer training program for young athletes since 1983. This program, FASDOGS, is designed to improve a wide range of skills, techniques, and physical abilities for athletes in all sports. It also changes year by year, improving with the advances of science and technology. Currently athletes spend an hour and a half in a series of daily exercises designed to improve every facet of their development. Younger athletes (grades 3-5) only spend an hour. New techniques and training routines are implemented on a regular basis. Performance Course is a company that specializes in devising speed training programs for young athletes of all types and is owned by Geno Pearce, a former student of Coach Jones. Pearce comes to Greenwood every couple of years and consults with Rick Jones on the FASDOGS training program. This service allows the FASDOGS program to stay on the cutting edge of training techniques and could be one of the many reasons Greenwood has such an accomplished athletic program.
FASDOGS starts July 8. FASDOGS is a four week speed and strength development program for all athletes grades third through 12+. This is a high intensity training camp that emphasises speed, quickness, lateral movement, agility and strength. Paid attendees in grades seventh through 12 can get approval from Coach Jones for a special Quarterback Training Program provided free of charge. Every participant should have a physical prior to the start of camp. The fee is $70 if paid before June 28 and $75 after that date. There is a 10 percent discount available to families with two or more enrolled in FASDOGS and to employees of Greenwood Public Schools. Forms can be picked up at the Greenwood School District Administration Building, the GMAC, the High School Office, the Junior High Office or by contacting Rick Jones at 996-2672 or 996-4141. He can also be reached via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
