Greenwood wrestling starts off strong

On December 11, the Greenwood Wrestling team wrestled at Conway. They defeated Conway 45-27 but lost to defending State Champions Maumelle 49-22.

On December 13 & 14, the team wrestled in the Van Buren Dual Team Tournament. The Bulldog wrestlers won the tournament by finishing 8-0. The following teams were beaten to claim the title:

Greenwood 54 Southside 21

Last Tuesday night, Greenwood hosted Northside, Southside, VanBuren, and Checotah, Okla. They were able to wrestle Checotah and Northside. Checotah was defeated in the first dual 60-21 and Northside fell in the 2nd dual 60-24.

There are currently two undefeated wrestlers at 12-0. They are, at 126 lbs., Caleb Erskine and, at 138 lbs., Taylor Compton. Other wrestlers with winning records are: 106 lbs. Jacob Barker (11-1); 120 lbs. Dustin Williams (9-1); Clay Watts (7-3); 132 lbs. Braxton Horne (5-2); 145 lbs. Landon Post (4-1); 160 lbs. Bryce Allen (8-3); 182 lbs. Jadrien Flores (6-1); Hwt Korbin Waldemar (6-1) and Brian Pullen (3-0).

The current dual record is for Greenwood is 11-1. “We will start the new year at the Springdale Har-Ber Tournament on January 3rd and 4th. There will be 6 states represented from Oklahoma, Missouri, Tennessee, Louisiana, Texas, and Arkansas,” Coach John Kincade said.
