The Miss Arkansas Scholarship Foundation is pleased to announce the 4th Annual Miss Arkansas Charity Golf Tournament. The purpose of the Charity Golf Tournament is to raise scholarship funds to help young women across the state further their education. For decades the Miss Arkansas and Miss America pageants have maintained a tradition of empowering young women to achieve their personal and professional goals while providing a forum in which to express their opinions, talents and intelligence. The national Miss America Organization awards over $45 million dollars in scholarships every year. In 2012, the Miss Arkansas pageant awarded over $88,000 in cash scholarships to its contestants. The Miss Arkansas Charity Golf Tournament will help raise money to fund these scholarships for the 2013 Miss Arkansas Pageant.

Event Chair and Scholarship Foundation board member Susie Morgan states, “This event raises funding for our scholarships. Our goal is to provide these outstanding young women from around the state of Arkansas with opportunities for higher education where there may not have been, and to assist those who want to go to graduate school. This experience develops motivated, poised and articulate young women into future leaders.”

This exclusive golf event will be held on Monday, May 20th, 2013 at the Pleasant Valley Country Club in Little Rock. Lunch will be served at 11:00 a.m., followed by a Miss Arkansas Putting Contest. The tournament begins at 1:00 p.m. with a shotgun start (shamble format). The cost is $1,250.00 per 4-player team. Following the shamble there will be an awards ceremony and cocktail party.

Miss Arkansas 2012 Sloane Roberts will be on hand for the festivities. Roberts was chosen as this year’s Miss Congeniality at the 2013 Miss America Pageant in January. All contestants from around the state who are vying to be crowned Miss Arkansas 2013 will also be on hand throughout the day. A special Ladies Clinic featuring 2-time Big Break Golf Professional, Christina Lecuyer kicks off the day. Lecuyer will teach short game, mental and other physical aspects of the game. The cost to attend the kick-off event is $250.00.

Finally, all participants will receive a special gift, as well as a certificate for a round of golf at Querencia Golf Club in Los Cabos. Querencia was recently rated #1 in Mexico by Golf Week Magazine. The four Hole-in-One prizes include a 2013 Camaro from Bale Chevrolet in Little Rock, a Rolex from Sissy’s Log Cabin, a Pheasant Hunt at Southfork Hunting Lodge in South Dakota and a cash prize of $10,000. Added to this year’s event is a Helicopter Ball Drop – Closest to the Pin Competition. Participants are eligible for cash prizes of $25,000, $50,000 and even $100,000.
