Jim Reynolds and Doug Kinslow reminded people that fishing is normally not allowed in this pond at Ossie Louise Park.
The crowd Saturday morning eclipsed 300 people. There were 180 kids participating in the 4th Annual ShellShocked Outdoors Kids Fishing Tournament.
The kids were only allowed to keep five fish. Most kept their catches on stringers until they were done, then released the extras back into the pond.
ShellShocked Outdoors’ 4th Annual Kids Fishing Tournament had record participation. With 180 kids registered to fish and well over 300 people attending, the pond at Ossie Louise Park was crowded. There were prizes given throughout the morning. The largest fish caught was a 3-lb. bass. The most fish caught were 43. The smallest fish did not even register on the scale.
Volunteers and donations from businesses and individuals helped make this free event the resounding success that ShellShocked Outdoors has worked hard to achieve. First National Bank, CV’s, Tacklebox, Walmart (Greenwood), Walmart (Zero Street), Walmart (Stigler), Phil Hicks, East Side Convenience, Creative Wit, KCKC Radio, Walgreens, United Way, Greenwood Parks Commission, Greenwood Street Department and the Mayor of Greenwood all pitched in to help these kids have another great ShellShocked experience in the great outdoors.
The next event for ShellShocked Outdoors will be their 3rd Annual Youth Duck Hunt on October 26. The event is open to all children 16 and under. For more information, go to www.shellshockedoutdoors.
