Softball: Lady Bulldogs advance with blowout, lose to Benton

<p>This was a very exciting game for the Lady Bulldogs. With the stadium packed with Greenwood fans, the excitement was contagious as the Lady Bulldogs advanced to Round 2 of the playoffs. The entire team celebrated Sydnie Henson’s homerun over the left field fence.</p>

Greenwood fell behind early, but rallied for a 12-2 win Thursday against Siloam Springs in the first round of the 6A State Tournament at Russellville.

Last Thursday, the Lady Bulldogs fell behind early, but broke out with six runs in the second inning as Sydney Henson and Allie Barnes had back-to-back triples.

Barnes was 2 for 3 and Henson was 2 for 3 with a home run. Kameron Brewer was 3 for 3 and Jade Pate 2 for 3 with an RBI. Brooke Kiene went 2 for 3 with a single and a double with 2 RBI’s.

With the win, Greenwood (17-11) faced Benton in the second round where they managed only three hits and gave up four unearned runs in a 4-0 loss.
