Connor Hughes and Jamie Rogers were the overall winners of the 2014 FreedomFest 5K in Greenwood.

On behalf of the Greenwood Chamber of Commerce, may I extend my gratitude to those who helped make this year’s FreedomFest 5K such a success! Your continued dedication to the race and Greenwood has one again helped exceed our expectations for the race. I first thank our sponsors: A&P Tax Commission, Farmers Bank, Walters & Gaston Law Firm, Johnson Dermatology, McDonald’s and Greenwood Athletic Club. Without your contribution, the race would not have taken place or been as successful as it was.

Thanks also to the wonderful support staff who worked tirelessly and endlessly before, during and after the race. Steve Sartain, Tracy Haest, Claudia Davis, Tessa Dean, Laura Jones, Lindsey Berg, Eileen Savold, Miranda Eserman, Alex & Anna Delcarman, Jan Gates, Doris Tate, Wanda Kindberg, Ray Webb, Dr. Bryan Bishop, Melanie Vollmer, Mark Williams, Lorna Bryant, Sandy Tull, Jeremy Tull, Courtney Parks, Larry & Mary Stanfill, First Baptist Church for use of the Edge building and Rachael Grigg.

I also thank the runners. We must have sponsors and support, but we need runners and participants as well. It takes all of the above to pull off a successful race and you did it, including the runners dressed in patriotic attire.

I hope I haven’t left anyone out, and if so I apologize. Please know your efforts are appreciated.

Thank you,

Randy Davis
